Football Recap: Denver Edge Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

In a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.

Defensive Performance Seals Contest

Despite recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after giving up a two-point play in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards during the entire game.

Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes left.

Record Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a potential winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.

The Jets quarterback struggled all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.

"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach commented following the game.
